As the adoption of solar panel installations increases in our commitment to renewable energy, we have also happened to have created a perfect habitat for expanding feral pigeon populations.
These adaptable birds find the sheltered environment beneath solar panels particularly inviting, shielding them from predators and the elements.
The gap beneath solar panels provides an ideal roosting spot for pigeons to settle in, construct nests, and rear their offspring.
Over time, the pigeon population can quickly multiply. Their droppings, known as guano, pose health hazards to humans and can obstruct gutters, potentially causing property damage from rainwater.
Once established, pigeons can breed year-round, adding to their numbers. Traditional bird deterrents, like decoy owls or hawks, often prove ineffective in dislodging pigeons from their established sites.
With the rapid growth of solar panel installations across East Yorkshire, homes and businesses are increasingly vulnerable to nesting pigeons beneath their arrays. The team at The Pest Company specialise in solar panel pigeon proofing for East Yorkshire, offering professional installation and long‑term protection to safeguard your investment.
Pigeons are drawn to the sheltered space beneath solar panels for nesting and roosting. These adaptable birds benefit from protection from predators and rain while treating your roof as their home.
Over time, pigeon activity under solar panels can lead to serious issues:
