No. Grey squirrels are classed as an invasive, non-native species and are not protected under UK law. In fact, it is illegal to release a captured grey squirrel back into the wild. Any control must still be carried out humanely and in accordance with pest control regulations.
Red squirrels on the other hand are protected, and must not be harmed.
