PROBLEM WITH WILDLIFE IN YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS? CALL US TODAY
What is Wildlife Management?
Wildlife management involves the humane and legal control of animals such as moles, rabbits, foxes*, and deer* that can cause disruption or damage in gardens, farmland, or commercial grounds across the UK.
These species can become problematic when their natural behaviours—like digging, grazing, or scavenging—conflict with human environments. Management aims to reduce harm while maintaining ecological balance.
Control must always follow UK legislation, including the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the Pests Act 1954 (for rabbits), and the Deer Act 1991. Specialist advice ensures methods are safe, ethical, and tailored to each species.
*We only offer deer and fox management only in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Essex.

Fully accredited BPCA members
As full members of The British Pest Control Association, you can be assured that we are both trained & qualified. We are fully insured and follow all industry Code of Best Practice, using only the most humane and effective methods available.

How to Manage Wildlife
Effective wildlife management depends on the animal involved and the location of the problem.
Common control methods include:
- Moles – Use of humane traps to remove moles causing damage.
- Rabbits – Trapping, fencing, shooting, and ferreting where permitted
- Foxes – Habitat proofing, repellents, and shooting.
- Deer – Protective fencing, and controlled culling under licence in rural areas
A pest control expert will carry out a site assessment and recommend the most appropriate strategy. Not all methods are suitable for every environment.

Damage Caused by Moles, Rabbits, Foxes, and Deer
Each species can cause specific issues to gardens, landscaping, or agricultural land if left unmanaged.
Typical damage includes:
- Moles – Raised molehills and tunnelling causes dangerous conditions for people, livestock and machinery. This can include lawns, paddocks, sports fields and landscaped areas.
- Rabbits – Chewed plants, stripped bark killing young trees and shrubs. Extensive burrowing can destabilising embankments, verges, and foundations.
- Foxes – Scattered rubbish, fouling, and digging under fences or sheds. They can prey on poultry and other small livestock.
- Deer – Graze on young trees, shrubs and crops, damaging fencing, and woodlands.
- Negative impact on customer experience and business reputation
Ongoing monitoring and management help prevent repeat problems and protect green spaces from long-term damage.

We contacted The Pest Company on a day when we first saw wasps in our soffits/roof and they were really friendly and efficient. A couple of days later they were at our house and dealt with the issue. However, as we were out on the day they came they couldn't have access to any interior areas. This long 'story' is basically to say that, when we noticed that there was still an issue and told them, they were equally as quick, efficient and professional as before and sorted the interior issue extremely quickly. We couldn't praise and thank them enough. Connor (who was their representative) was an extremely polite, efficient and knowledgeable guy and he, 100%, sorted things for us quickly. Again, we can't thank and praise him enough.Posted on Google![]()

Frequently asked questions
What is wildlife management?
Wildlife management is the humane and legal control of animals such as moles, rabbits, foxes, and deer that cause damage or disruption in gardens, farmland, or commercial grounds. It aims to reduce harm while maintaining ecological balance.
Which laws apply to wildlife control in the UK?
Wildlife control must comply with UK legislation, including the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the Pests Act 1954 (for rabbits), and the Deer Act 1991. These laws ensure control methods are legal, humane, and species-appropriate.
What are the most effective methods for managing problem wildlife?
Methods vary by species. For example:
- Moles – Trapping is generally the best method of removal. Although gassing is an approved method, it is very rarely viable. Gassing is not a service we off.
- Rabbits – Trapping, fencing, shooting, and ferreting where permitted
- Foxes – Habitat proofing, repellents, and shooting.
- Deer – Protective fencing, and control of numbers under licence. Deer culling requires specific qualifications.
Are wildlife management methods safe for the environment?
Yes, when carried out by professionals. Any work we undertake is following a full environmental risk assessment, using techniques that minimise harm to non-target animals and preserve the surrounding ecosystem.
Why should I hire a professional for wildlife management?
A professional can accurately identify the problem species, assess the site, and put together a proposal for the most effective, humane and legal control methods. They also offer long-term monitoring to prevent recurring issues.
